Summer Salt
Summer Salt
Self deemed “coral reef rock”, Summer Salt delivers a retro blend of bossa nova and 60’s oldies pop. Growing up in Dallas, TX, Matt Terry (vocals and guitar), Phil Baier (bass), and Eugene Chung (drums) started the band in high school, then reunited in 2013 after moving to Austin, TX.

In 2014, they released their first EP ” Driving to Hawaii,” which was self recorded in the comfort of their homes. Filled with smooth beachy pop, the EP gained a cult following, selling out on all formats and labels released. Sophomore EP “Going Native” had a different approach, recorded live on 2” tape at Cacophony Studios in 2016. The songs were intentionally played fast to fit on a 45 rpm record. Austin Town Hall Records released an original pressing of 850 copies that sold out immediately.

Following a handful of tours, they released their third EP “So Polite” on Austin Town Hall in 2017.

In late 2017, Summer Salt added MJ Tirabassi (formerly The Walters), and are currently working on a full length album.
Based in Austin, Texas, Hovvdy (pronounced "howdy") is the writing and recording project of Charlie Martin and Will Taylor. The duo, both primarily drummers, first met in the fall of 2014 and quickly bonded over a love for quiet music. Within a few weeks, they had combined songs and began recording their first EP in bedrooms and family homes across Texas.
By 2016 the two had committed to each others growth in songwriting and recording, resulting in their debut album Taster, originally released on Sports Day Records and reissued in 2017 by Double Double Whammy. Hovvdy has found a unique identity in rhythmic, down-tempo pop songs that are hopeful, yet melancholy; relatable, yet distinguishable.
Hovvdy's sophomore album, Cranberry, expands on a familiar texture, building off Taster's minimal complexity and covering new ground. Cranberry will be released on Double Double Whammy on February 9th.
